"Kim's style is a balance between realism and the artistic touch. She takes the ordinary and gives it life by adding the colour and light that only a true artist can see, thereby giving us the special opportunity to view the world through her eyes. She focuses on the majestic beauty of wildlife and the splendor of flowers to bring us closer to God through His creations and share the peaceful feelings that His work brings to her.
A unique element of her artwork is the special blending of colors that she uses to keep her paintings unified. She uses top quality oil paints because she loves the smooth, buttery feel and workability they allow her. She uses them in a thick impasto way to capture light. Oils dry slowly and allow her time to study, plan and be meticulous. She finds versatility in the rich, vibrant oil colors that she loves, building her paintings up slowly in layers, many times, allowing each layer underneath to dry before applying another layer. This takes patience but she usually has a few paintings on the go at a time allowing her to work on a secondary piece while the first piece is drying. Taking a break on one painting allows her to gain a new fresh perspective when she returns to it.
About the Artist
Kim was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and is raising her three children there. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she teaches Sunday School each Sunday, expanding her talents and helping others to increase their knowledge and love for Jesus Christ. Kim has an enduring love for animals and children and her patience for them seems to know no bounds. She and husband, Marc, successfully run their store, Glowing Rivers Gallery where they sell Kim's works as well as those from other artists and scrapbooking supplies for Kim's other hobby. Her special spirit is felt by all who know her. Her sense of humour, her complete lack of arrogance, her ability to laugh at herself, and her immense kindness make her an ideal friend and mother."
